The Ramones' self-titled debut album was released in April 1976 on Sire Records. The band's manager Danny Fields arranged for producer Craig Leon to work on the project after Leon convinced the label's president to see them perform. The recording sessions took place in early 1976 and were completed remarkably quickly and inexpensively, requiring only a week and approximately six thousand dollars to finish the album.
