"The Man I Love" is a standard composition with music by George Gershwin and lyrics by Ira Gershwin. Originally written for the 1924 musical comedy Lady, Be Good, the song was removed from that production and later incorporated into the 1927 satirical musical Strike Up the Band, which closed during out-of-town performances. The song was also considered for but ultimately excluded from the 1928 Florenz Ziegfeld Jr. production Rosalie.
