"Down Under" was originally self-released in 1980 by Australian rock band Men at Work as a B-side to their debut single "Keypunch Operator." The song was written by band co-founders Colin Hay and Ron Strykert. After the band signed with Columbia Records, a revised version with faster tempo and different arrangement was released in 1981 as their second single from the album Business as Usual.
