"Rock Lobster" was composed by B-52's vocalist Fred Schneider and guitarist Ricky Wilson. The song was recorded and released twice—initially as the band's debut single through DB Records in April 1978, and subsequently for their self-titled debut album released the following year on Warner Bros. in the United States and Island Records internationally.
