This song appears on Cyndi Lauper's debut album released in 1983. It became the second single from that album when it was issued in early 1984 through two record labels. The composition was created by Lauper alongside Rob Hyman, who also contributed backing vocals. The track was completed during the final phase of album production, following several other songs. Its title was inspired by a 1979 science fiction film of the same name that Lauper discovered while reading a television guide.
