UGK
UGK was an American hip-hop duo that emerged from Port Arthur, Texas in 1987. The group became pioneers of southern rap, blending elements of blues, country, and trap music into their distinctive sound. Operating throughout the late 1980s and 1990s, UGK earned recognition for their contributions to the dirty south movement and their association with the chopped and screwed production style that defined Houston's rap scene. Known for their gangsta rap aesthetic and regional authenticity, the group remained influential figures in southern hip-hop until their breakup in December 2007.
