E-40, born Earl Tywone Stevens, is an American rapper from the San Francisco Bay Area known for his distinctive style within west coast hip hop and hyphy music. A founding member of the rap collective the Click and owner of Sick Wid It Records, E-40 built his career from underground roots to mainstream recognition. His 1995 solo album In a Major Way expanded his audience significantly, followed by collaborative work with prominent rappers beginning in 1998. He achieved major commercial success in 2006 with the hit single "Tell Me When to Go." With 27 studio albums and numerous soundtrack appearances, E-40 remains a prolific figure in hip hop.
