An Eric Carmen composition released by Arista Records in December 1975 as the debut single from his self-titled album. The track incorporates the second movement of Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2 in its verse section and draws from a song Carmen previously recorded with the Raspberries in 1972 for its chorus. The recording features slide guitar work by studio musician Hugh McCracken. The song achieved significant commercial success, reaching number two on the Billboard Hot 100 and establishing itself as Carmen's most successful pop chart entry.
