"Special Secret Song Inside" appears on The Uplift Mofo Party Plan, the third studio album by Red Hot Chili Peppers released in September 1987. This album is historically significant as the only studio recording featuring all four founding members on every track. It was the final album with guitarist Hillel Slovak before his death in 1988 and the sole full-length project with drummer Jack Irons. "Fight Like a Brave" served as the album's primary single.
