Ten is the initial studio release by Pearl Jam, a Seattle-based rock band, made available through Epic Records. The album emerged following the breakup of the members' former group Mother Love Bone. The band's core musicians—bassist Jeff Ament and guitarist Stone Gossard—recruited guitarist Mike McCready and later added drummer Dave Krusen and vocalist Eddie Vedder. Several tracks developed from instrumental compositions or earlier material to which Vedder added original vocal melodies and lyrical content.
