This is a sacred choral composition created by John Rutter, featuring lyrics written by the composer himself. The work was commissioned in 1989 by The Bach Choir to commemorate their conductor David Willcocks' 70th birthday. It was scored for four-part vocal harmony with piano accompaniment, with additional arrangements created later. The piece premiered at The Bach Choir's Christmas concert held at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
