"Bo Weevil" was written collaboratively by Dave Bartholomew and Fats Domino, with the recording taking place in mid-October 1955. Imperial Records issued it as a single the following January, achieving modest chart success by reaching number 35 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 5 on the R&B chart in February 1956. The track later appeared on Domino's 1956 album.
