Technique is New Order's fifth studio album, released in January 1989 by Factory Records. The album was partially created on Ibiza and blends Balearic beat and acid house styles with the band's existing dance-rock approach. It draws inspiration from the emerging acid music scene and lead singer Sumner's attendance at the London venue Shoom.
