Ludwig van Beethoven

Ludwig van Beethoven

Beethoven's Last Night is a rock opera created by Trans-Siberian Orchestra and released in 2000. The concept album presents a fictional narrative centered on Ludwig van Beethoven's final evening, wherein the character Mephistopheles attempts to claim the composer's soul. With intervention from Fate and her son Twist, Beethoven ultimately outmaneuvers the devil and preserves his soul. The work integrates classical crossover rock compositions that draw heavily from melodic elements of Beethoven's classical repertoire. As the first Trans-Siberian Orchestra release to eschew Christmas-themed content, the album features cover artwork by Edgar Jerins, with subsequent reissues presenting designs by Greg Hildebrandt.
