Ten is the inaugural studio album by American rock group Pearl Jam, made available through Epic Records in late August 1991. The band formed following the breakup of their earlier group Mother Love Bone, with bassist Jeff Ament and guitarist Stone Gossard recruiting guitarist Mike McCready. They created a five-song instrumental demo with drummer Matt Cameron, which was subsequently shared with drummer Dave Krusen and singer Eddie Vedder as part of their audition process in Seattle. Many album tracks originated from instrumental jam sessions or prior Mother Love Bone compositions, with Vedder contributing original vocal melodies and words.
