Ten is the inaugural studio album from American rock group Pearl Jam, released in August 1991 on Epic Records. The band formed after their previous group Mother Love Bone disbanded in 1990, with bassist Jeff Ament and guitarist Stone Gossard recruiting guitarist Mike McCready. They recorded a demo featuring five instrumental tracks with drummer Matt Cameron, which was shared with drummer Dave Krusen and singer Eddie Vedder during their auditions. Several tracks on the album originated from instrumental improvisations or earlier Mother Love Bone compositions to which Vedder added fresh melodies and vocal parts.
