The Yardbirds

The Yardbirds

The Yardbirds are an English blues rock band formed in London in 1963. The group became renowned as a launching pad for three of rock music's most celebrated guitarists: Eric Clapton (1963–1965), Jeff Beck (1965–1966), and Jimmy Page (1966–1968), all of whom later ranked among Rolling Stone magazine's greatest guitarists. Led by vocalist and harmonica player Keith Relf, with drummer Jim McCarty, guitarist Chris Dreja, and bassist Paul Samwell-Smith, the band achieved commercial success in the mid-1960s with a series of hits including "For Your Love," "Heart Full of Soul," "Evil Hearted You," "Shapes of Things," and "Over Under Sideways Down." Their influential blend of blues, rock, and experimental sounds shaped the development of hard rock and psychedelic music during the era.
