Yoko Kanno is a Japanese composer, arranger, and music producer known for her prolific work across anime, video games, television dramas, and films. Beginning her career in 1964, Kanno has become a distinctive voice in soundtrack composition, blending jazz and other musical influences. She is celebrated for her scores to major anime series including Cowboy Bebop, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Wolf's Rain, and Darker than Black. Beyond composition, Kanno serves as keyboardist and frontwoman for Seatbelts, an ensemble that performs many of her works, further establishing her reputation as a versatile and innovative artist in Japanese media music.
