XTC were an English rock band formed in Swindon in 1976. Led by songwriters Andy Partridge and Colin Moulding, the group emerged during the punk and new wave era, initially gaining attention through their sharp, angular approach before evolving toward intricately arranged pop compositions. Despite their stylistic versatility—spanning post-punk, art rock, and baroque pop—XTC achieved limited mainstream commercial success in the UK and US. However, they cultivated a devoted fan base and left a lasting mark on subsequent generations of artists, particularly influencing the development of Britpop and power pop movements. The band remained active until 2006.
