Was (Not Was)
Was (Not Was) is an American electronic and funk band formed in Detroit, Michigan in 1979 by David Weiss and Don Fagenson, known professionally as David Was and Don Was. The group became known for blending diverse musical styles—from pop and soul to synth-pop—often collaborating with a wide range of guest performers. Their peak commercial success occurred during the 1980s and early 1990s, highlighted by their 1987 hit "Walk the Dinosaur," which reached number seven on the Billboard Hot 100 and achieved worldwide chart success. Following an indefinite hiatus in the mid-1990s, the band has reunited intermittently, releasing the album Boo! in 2008.
