UGK

U.G.K. was an American hip-hop duo from Port Arthur, Texas, active from 1987 until 2007. The group was initially formed by Mitchell Queen and Chad Butler, though Queen later departed to pursue football. Bernard Freeman subsequently joined as a permanent member, while Queen continued contributing to the project periodically. U.G.K. became influential figures in Southern hip-hop, blending elements of blues rap, country rap, and chopped and screwed production styles. Their work helped define the dirty South sound and gangsta rap aesthetic throughout their two-decade career.
