Barbecue Bob
Robert 'Barbecue Bob' Hicks was an American blues musician active in the early twentieth century. Born in 1902, Hicks became known for his contributions to the country blues and piedmont blues traditions, performing primarily on acoustic guitar. His career spanned from 1902 until his death in 1931 at age 29. Hicks recorded during the height of the acoustic blues era and helped establish the piedmont style, which blended blues with elements of regional folk traditions. His life was cut short by tuberculosis and pneumonia, yet his recordings remain influential in documenting early blues expression.
