RA the Rugged Man is an American rapper and producer from the United States. Beginning his music career as a young teenager, he developed a reputation for his lyrical abilities within local circles. At 18, Thorburn secured a recording contract with the major label Jive Records, marking a significant early milestone. However, his intended debut album, Night of the Bloody Apes, was ultimately not released. Working primarily in hip hop and gangsta rap, he has remained an active figure in the genre since the mid-1970s.
