The O'Jays are an American R&B group from Canton, Ohio, formed in 1958. The ensemble achieved modest chart success in the early 1960s before their career trajectory transformed following their 1971 signing to Philadelphia International Records under producers Gamble & Huff. The group rose to prominence as a cornerstone of the Philadelphia soul movement, delivering major hits including "Back Stabbers" (1972) and "Love Train" (1973), the latter reaching number one on the Billboard Hot 100. Their smooth blend of soul, funk, and disco established them as influential figures in popular music. The O'Jays received recognition through inductions into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame (2004), Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (2005), and Rhythm and Blues Music Hall of Fame (2013).
