The New Power Generation
N.P.G. is an American funk and contemporary R&B group that emerged in 1990. Originally formed as Prince's backing band, the ensemble gained official recognition through the title track from the album and film Graffiti Bridge. The group was subsequently credited on Prince's album covers and remained his primary support act, maintaining a rotating roster of musicians throughout their tenure. Though the introductory single received limited commercial success compared to preceding releases, N.P.G. became an integral part of Prince's live and studio work, continuing in this capacity into the early 2010s.
