Mudvayne is an American progressive metal band formed in Peoria, Illinois in 1996. The group rose to prominence in the late 1990s through the underground music scene before achieving mainstream success with their debut album L.D. 50 (2000), particularly the single "Dig." Fronted by vocalist Chad Gray alongside guitarist Greg Tribbett, bassist Ryan Martinie, and drummer Matthew McDonough, the band distinguished itself through experimental songwriting and elaborate visual presentations featuring face paint, body paint, and distinctive costumes. After releasing four additional studio albums and extensive touring throughout the 2000s, Mudvayne entered a hiatus in 2010. The band reunited in 2021 and has since returned to performing, with a new single released in 2025 marking their first original material in over a decade. The group has sold more than five million records worldwide.
