"Colour My World" was written by James Pankow, a founding member of the rock/jazz fusion band Chicago. The song was part of Pankow's larger composition called "Ballet for a Girl in Buchannon" and appeared on Chicago's second album, Chicago II, released in 1970. Terry Kath provided lead vocals while Walter Parazaider contributed a flute solo to the track.
