The Modernaires were an American vocal group that emerged during the swing era beginning in 1935. The ensemble gained considerable prominence during the 1940s through their collaborations with the Glenn Miller Orchestra, one of the most popular big bands of that decade. Their contributions to swing music helped define the sound of the period, blending tight vocal harmonies with the orchestral arrangements that characterized the era's most celebrated ensembles.
