This is Shakira's fourth studio album, released in September 1998 through Sony Music Colombia. Following her successful Latin American breakthrough with her previous work, Shakira collaborated with Emilio Estefan, who recognized her capacity to penetrate the U.S. Latin market and took on a managerial role. The album brought together several collaborators including Luis Fernando Ochoa and other musicians. The sound combines rock en español with Latin pop and Middle Eastern musical influences.
