Marty Robbins was an American country and western singer and songwriter who achieved widespread popularity over a nearly four-decade career spanning the late 1940s through the early 1980s. Born Martin David Robinson, he became one of the most successful artists in country music during his era. Robbins was also recognized as a pioneer of the outlaw country movement. His career encompassed the 1950s through 1980s, establishing him as a defining voice in country music. He passed away in 1982 following heart surgery.
