The Allman Brothers Band

The Allman Brothers Band was an American rock ensemble founded in Jacksonville, Florida in 1969 by brothers Duane and Gregg Allman alongside Dickey Betts, Berry Oakley, Butch Trucks, and Jai Johanny Johanson. Relocating to Macon, Georgia, the group became known for blending blues, jazz, and country influences with extended instrumental passages and improvisational live performances characteristic of the jam band tradition. Their dynamic sound and energetic concerts established them as influential figures in southern rock, earning lasting recognition in classic rock history until their final performance in 2014.
