Alicia Keys is an American singer, songwriter, and pianist born in 1981. A classically trained musician who began composing at age 12, she was initially signed by Columbia Records as a teenager before moving to J Records. Her debut album, Songs in A Minor (2001), achieved international recognition with over 12 million copies sold and earned five Grammy Awards, including recognition for the chart-topping single "Fallin'". Her follow-up, The Diary of Alicia Keys (2003), continued her success with eight million units sold worldwide and multiple top-five hits.
