INXS were an Australian rock band that formed in Sydney in 1977, initially performing under the name the Farriss Brothers. The group comprised bassist Garry Gary Beers, keyboardist and primary composer Andrew Farriss, drummer Jon Farriss, guitarist Tim Farriss, lead vocalist Michael Hutchence, and guitarist and saxophonist Kirk Pengilly. Throughout their two decades of activity, Hutchence served as the band's frontman, whose commanding stage presence established him as their defining figure. Operating across rock, pop, and new wave genres, INXS became one of Australia's most significant musical exports before concluding their initial run in 2012.
