Dire Straits

Dire Straits were a British rock band formed in London in 1977 by Mark Knopfler, David Knopfler, John Illsley, and Pick Withers. The group drew from blues rock, country rock, and pub rock influences, developing a distinctive sound centred on Knopfler's guitar work. Active through the late 1970s and 1980s, the band achieved considerable success during the classic rock era. After a hiatus, they reunited for performances between 1990 and 1995, cementing their legacy as one of Britain's most significant rock acts.
