Carl Orff was a German composer and pedagogue born in 1895 and active throughout the twentieth century until his death in 1982. He gained international recognition primarily through his large-scale cantata for soloists, chorus, and orchestra, which set medieval Latin and German poetry to music. Beyond composition, Orff developed an innovative educational approach known as Schulwerk, which fundamentally shaped how music instruction was taught to children across Europe and beyond. His compositional output encompassed opera, ballet, and choral works, establishing him as a significant figure in modern classical music.
