Black Sabbath

Black Sabbath were an English heavy metal band established in Birmingham in 1968 by Tony Iomli, Bill Ward, Geezer Butler, and Ozzy Osbourne. Taking their name in 1969, the group became known for incorporating occult and horror-inspired themes alongside heavily down-tuned guitar work. Their initial three albums—Black Sabbath, Paranoid, and Master of Reality—achieved significant commercial success and are widely recognized as foundational works in heavy metal's development. Throughout the 1970s, the band released albums including Vol. 4, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, Sabotage, Technical Ecstasy, and Never Say Die!, during which they increasingly experimented with progressive and avant-garde musical directions. The band remained active until 2025.
