The Kinks were an English rock band formed in London in 1962, comprising brothers Ray and Dave Davies alongside Pete Quaife and Mick Avory. Emerging from the British rhythm and blues scene, they achieved international breakthrough with Ray Davies's composition "You Really Got Me" in 1964, which topped UK charts and reached the American Top 10. The band produced several early hits including "All Day and All of the Night," "Tired of Waiting for You," and "Till the End of the Day," establishing themselves as key figures in the British Invasion. Following complications during a 1965 American tour, they were restricted from performing in the United States for an extended period. The band remained active until 1996, leaving a lasting impact on rock and pop music.
