Wham! were an English pop duo formed in Bushey in 1981, comprising George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley. Operating during the height of the 1980s pop era, they achieved remarkable commercial success, amassing over 30 million certified sales worldwide between 1982 and 1986. The group became central figures in the MTV-driven Second British Invasion of the United States, with chart-topping hits including "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go," "Careless Whisper," and "Everything She Wants." Their 1984 Christmas single "Last Christmas" established itself as an enduring holiday favorite, with all proceeds benefiting charitable causes. Blending synthpop, dance-pop, and soul influences, Wham! left a significant mark on 1980s popular music before dissolving in 1986.
