Supertramp were a British rock band formed in London in 1970. Led by songwriters Roger Hodgson and Rick Davies, the group became known for synthesizing progressive rock with accessible pop elements. Their classic lineup, which remained stable from 1973 to 1983, featured Davies, Hodgson, Dougie Thomson on bass, Bob Siebenberg on drums, and John Helliwell on saxophone. Following this period, the ensemble underwent multiple personnel changes, though Davies remained the sole consistent member. The band's fusion of complex compositional structures with mainstream sensibilities established them as significant figures in 1970s rock music.
