Soundgarden

Soundgarden was an American rock band formed in Seattle, Washington, in 1984. Founded by singer and drummer Chris Cornell, guitarist Kim Thayil, and bassist Hiro Yamamoto, the group underwent several lineup changes in its early years, with Scott Sundquist joining as drummer in 1985 to allow Cornell to concentrate on vocals, followed by Matt Cameron's arrival in 1986. After Yamamoto's departure in 1989, the band cycled through bassists Jason Everman and Ben Shepherd. Soundgarden disbanded in 1997 but reunited in 2010. Following Cornell's death in 2017, the band formally disbanded again in 2018, ending their influential run in alternative and grunge rock.
