The Masters Apprentices
The Masters Apprentices were an Australian rock band formed in Adelaide in 1964 as The Mustangs by Mick Bower, Brian Vaughton, Rick Morrison, and Gavin Webb. Following Jim Keays's recruitment as vocalist, the group relocated to Melbourne in 1967 and adopted their new name. Operating across hard rock, progressive rock, and psychedelic styles, they achieved chart success in Australia with singles including "Undecided," "Living in a Child's Dream," and "5:10 Man." The band pursued international expansion in the United Kingdom from 1970 before disbanding in 1972. Notably, bassist Glenn Wheatley's career with the group launched him toward a prominent role as a music industry manager, later representing artists such as Little River Band and John Farnham.
