Marlene Dietrich

Marlene Dietrich was a German-American actress and singer whose career extended across nearly seven decades. Rising to prominence in 1920s Berlin through stage and silent film work, she achieved international stardom following her role as Lola Lola in The Blue Angel (1930), which led to a Paramount Pictures contract. She appeared in numerous Hollywood films, including six directed by Josef von Sternberg throughout the 1930s. During World War II, Dietrich was a prominent entertainer for American audiences. Though she continued acting in notable post-war films directed by Billy Wilder, Alfred Hitchcock, and others, she devoted much of the 1950s through 1970s to performing live shows worldwide, establishing herself as a major cabaret and concert performer.
