An American Prayer is the ninth and final studio album by the Doors, released in late 1978 on Elektra Records. The surviving band members reunited following Jim Morrison's death in 1971 and the group's 1973 dissolution to create musical accompaniment for Morrison's spoken word recordings. The album received a Grammy nomination in the Spoken Word category, making it the only Doors album to achieve such recognition.
