This song was originally recorded by Julie Covington for a 1976 concept album titled Evita, and was subsequently featured in the 1978 musical production of the same name. Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice composed and wrote the piece during their research into the life of Eva Perón, Argentina's first lady. The song appears multiple times throughout the musical, including at the beginning of both acts and toward the conclusion of the show.
