"Escape" was written by Enrique Iglesias, Steve Morales, Kara DioGuardi, and David Siegel as the opening track on his fifth studio album released in 2001. It was issued as the album's second single, reaching number three in the UK and number 12 on the US Billboard Hot 100. A Spanish-language version called "Escapar" achieved number nine on the Spanish charts. The song received dual releases in different markets during early 2002.
