Lonnie Donegan
Anthony James "Lonnie" Donegan was a British musician and singer-songwriter born in Scotland and raised in England. Initially performing in the trad jazz scene, he shifted to skiffle in the mid-1950s and became a dominant force in the genre, earning the title "King of Skiffle." His rendition of the American folk standard "Rock Island Line" became a major hit and catalyzed the UK skiffle boom. Donegan's work significantly shaped the development of 1960s British pop and rock, influencing numerous musicians of the era. He remained active from 1931 until his death in 2002.
