Little Esther was an American vocalist known for her versatile work across multiple genres. Emerging as a prominent R&B artist in 1950, she achieved early success with recordings such as "Double Crossing Blues" and "Mistrustin' Blues." Her career expanded throughout the following decades, encompassing country, pop, jazz, blues, and soul styles. A notable crossover moment came in 1975 with a disco rendition of "What a Diff'rence a Day Makes," which became a major commercial hit. Phillips earned four Grammy nominations during her lifetime, including recognition for her 1973 album From a Whisper to a Scream. She passed away in 1984.
