Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., known professionally as Lil Wayne, is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer from New Orleans. Discovered by fellow New Orleans artist Birdman in 1993, he signed with Cash Money Records at age eleven and became the label's leading artist over more than two decades. Regarded as one of the most influential hip-hop figures of his generation, Lil Wayne has worked across multiple genres including rap, hip hop, southern hip hop, and rap rock. He remained with Cash Money Records until his departure in 2018, establishing himself as one of the greatest rappers of all time.
