The Lightning Seeds are an English rock band established in Liverpool in 1989 by Ian Broudie, who previously worked with Big in Japan, Care, and Original Mirrors. Beginning as Broudie's studio-based project, the group evolved into a live touring act following the 1994 album Jollification. The band achieved significant commercial prominence during the 1990s, achieving particular fame through "Three Lions," a collaborative single with comedians David Baddiel and Frank Skinner that topped the UK charts in 1996 and 1998, with another version reaching number one in 2018. Their sound blends rock, electronic, and alternative elements characteristic of British indie pop and britpop.
