The Partisan cover

An anti-fascist anthem originally composed in 1943 by Russian-born Anna Marly with lyrics by French Resistance leader Emmanuel d'Astier de La Vigerie, initially titled "La Complainte du partisan." Marly performed the song on the BBC's French service, where it inspired the Resistance. While French artists have recorded versions, the song achieved greater global recognition through an English adaptation by Hy Zaret, which differed significantly in both music and lyrical meaning.
